Officials said they will instead focus on bringing the dinner back to its roots and holding it as a sit-down dinner at First Presbyterian Church in Albany. KIPP teacher accused of making verbal threat and using racial slur in class ST. LOUIS – The mother of a senior at KIPP St. Louis High School claims a teacher made a threat to end her son's life and used a racial slur in class. She says an audio recording capturedthe incident.  “I’m frustrated,” Evette Reed said. “I’m angry.”She said the school promised to investigate. Reed was surprised when her son, Kaylen, told her the teacher returned to class Tuesday. The incident occurred last Wednesday. Troy, Illinois man allowed to post bail in murder case TROY, Ill. – In an early test for the controversial new law known as the SAFE-T Act, a Troy, Illinois, man accused of murdering his girlfriend will remain out of jail until trial.The attorney for the murder suspect, Michael Perham, said he was not a threat to anyone.It was Perham who called the police after he shot and killed his girlfriend. He acted in self-defense, his attorney said.Perham, 52, walked into Madison County Court on Tuesday, not knowing if he was going to walk back out. The alleged crime happened 13 days before the Safe-T Act took effect last month, eliminating cash bail statewide in Illinois.Perham was still able to post bail and go free after posting $100,000 cash on a $1 million bond that had been set by the court. 32-year-old man killed by hit-and-run driver in Orange County Family of a 32-year-old man who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver over the weekend is pleading with the public to help police identify the suspect and bring them peace.  Officers with the Santa Ana Police Department responded to calls of a “pedestrian down in traffic lanes” near Warner Avenue and Brookhollow Drive just after 10 p.m. on Oct. 15, according to a news release from the department.  Medical personnel with the Orange County Fire Department responded to the location and declared the victim, now identified as 32-year-old Sergio Diaz, deceased at the scene.  Sergio Diaz, 32, seen here, was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Santa Ana on Oct. 15, 2023. New users in these regions must subscribe to the plan to post, like, reply to, quote, or bookmark content on the web version of the platform.
