4 injured in Sweden in incident classed as attempted murder

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Four teenagers were injured in an incident Thursday in the town of Eskilstuna, west of Stockholm, police said, adding it was unclear what had happened but “several people were involved in a fight that resulted in personal injuries.”Those injured were four boys aged 15, police said in a statement. The case is being classified as attempted murder, but police said they had no information on how serious the injuries were. Two young men have been detained and more people can expected to be nabbed, they added.A large deployment of police was involved in an action near the Munktellarena sports facility in Eskilstuna, some 90 kilometers (56 miles) west of Stockholm, police said. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Swedish broadcaster TV4 said school students were injured in a stabbing and two groups of youths got into a fight. CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was meeting in South Africa with counterparts from the BRICS economic bloc of developing nations for discussions Thursday that will start with “an exchange of views” on major geopolitical issues, including the war in Ukraine, South Africa’s ambassador to the bloc said.Most of the BRICS countries differ sharply from the position of the U.S. and its Western allies on the war. Small plane forced to land in cornfield after failed take off in Sugar Grove

SUGAR GROVE, Ill — A small plane was forced to land in a cornfield after a failed take off from Aurora Municipal Airport in Sugar Grove on Thursday morning.According to the FAA, the single-engine plane made a hard landing after taking off from the airport around 7:30 a.m. The landing gear was reportedly crushed.Two people were on board at the time of the incident and were not injured.Here's a look at the plane that crashed during takeoff from the Aurora Airport. (WKBN) – June 1 may mark just the start of hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico, but this year's hurricane names are already set. The World Meteorological Organization decided on the list of 21 names. When a tropical storm strengthens to wind speeds of 39 mph or higher, it gets a name from the list, starting in alphabetical order.There are 26 letters in the alphabet but only 21 names chosen. The letters Q, U, X, Y and Z are all left off because they aren’t common enough to be easily understood in local languages spoken in North America, Central America and the Caribbean (areas all affected by hurricanes).There are six lists of names, which are rotated through and recycled every six years. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department said there is no threat to the public after it helped investigate reported "suspicious activity" at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Thursday morning. AUS and APD investigated the Red Garage for reported "suspicious activity," according to the airport's Twitter page. Both the Red and Blue Garages and adjacent admin buildings were closed during the investigation but have since reopened. However, the third floor of the Red Garage remains closed.
