Sunnyvale: Shooting leaves man in critical condition SUNNYVALE – Authorities are investigating the attempted murder of a man Tuesday night in Sunnyvale.Officers were called to Hawthorn and Arbutus avenues around 10:40 p.m. for a report of gunshots and a vehicle collision, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said in a news release. They arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.The man was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.An investigation revealed that the man was sitting in his vehicle when someone in a separate vehicle approached and fired two shots, hitting the man once, police said. Oakley high school principal injured after being punched trying to stop fight between students: police (KRON) -- Freedom High School Principal Steve Amaro suffered injuries while trying to stop a fight on campus Tuesday between two students, the Oakley Police Department announced on social media. Two students were in a verbal argument in a hallway; Amaro stepped in because he believed the argument had the potential to become violent. Student brought gun, ammunition to Vallejo middle school Amaro tried to separate the two students. However, in doing so, he and the student he was guiding away from the argument both tripped and fell to the ground, police said. Snake removed from San Jose airport (KRON) -- A snake was removed from San Jose Mineta International Airport on Wednesday, SJC confirmed to KRON4. The airport said the snake was a non-venomous garter snake and did not pose a threat to the public. "Some varieties of small snakes are native to the area and can make their way into open public spaces. Upon learning about the garter snake, we followed protocols to remove the animal, which is not venomous and posed no threat to persons or operations," SJC said.
