AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is petitioning to condemn Fairfield Lake State Park and Fairfield Lake to keep the state park open to the public. TPWD will use eminent domain to condemn the about 5,000-acre property. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission voted to authorize TPWD to condemn the land at a Saturday special meeting. From state park to private development: The twisting timeline of Fairfield Lake "Today’s action comes after TPWD and its commissioners have taken persistent and extraordinary steps to acquire and preserve the park under more amicable terms," a TPWD release said. The state park closed to the public June 3, and TPWD's lease for the state park ends June 13. The state park, located between Houston and Dallas in Freestone County, opened in 1976 with about 1,821 acres. A coal plant, operated by Vistra, closed in 2018. ST. LOUIS - Dot Foods, an Illinois-based food industry redistributor, plans to move an annual trade show from St. Louis to Denver starting next year due to crime concerns. The St. Louis Business Journal first reported on this decision Friday. Dot Foods has held its annual show for nearly 20 years at the America's Center Convention Complex. However, CEO Dick Tracy told the Business Journal some customers and employees share concerns about safety around downtown. ST. LOUIS - With more than one-third of the season complete, the St. Louis Cardinals are changing course with one aspect of their alcohol sales. The St. Louis Cardinals have extended alcohol sales to the end of the eighth inning. According to The Athletic's Katie Woo, the extended sales began Friday evening. Such beverages won’t be available through food vendors, but you can purchase drinks through various concession stands and bars around Busch Stadium. Most of Southern California will be blanketed by clouds and periods of rain that will begin Saturday night and last through the end of the weekend. According to a tweet by the National Weather Service, isolated showers could make their way to Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties by 2 p.m., and heavy showers and lightning are in the forecast. (KRON) -- After a mass shooting left nine people injured on Friday night, community leaders concerned about gun violence spoke out. San Francisco Mayor London Breed also wrote about the status of the shooting investigation. San Francisco ice Cream shop burglarized twice in one morning Police confirmed that the victims included 8 males and one female. The ages range from 20-34-years-old.
