ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Hundreds of tenants rallied outside of Governor Kathy Hochul's office on Friday, demanding state lawmakers protect tenants facing steep rent hikes and eviction. The rallies called on Hochul to pass the Good Cause eviction protections and not to abandon tenants in her Fiscal Year 2024 Executive Budget. LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Dick's Sporting Goods in Latham has been closed since at least February. That's because the store has been going through renovations and is turning into a House of Sport, a spokesperson for Dick's confirmed to NEWS10. According to the Dick's website, House of Sport not only sells sporting equipment, but has interactive spaces to try out the gear and practice your skills. (WTEN) -- As the clock ticks down to the state's April 1st budget deadline, Republican lawmakers are once again pushing for a constitutional amendment called the New York State Budget Transparency Act. NYS Budget could include streaming service tax In New York, bills are supposed to age for three days, allowing lawmakers and the public an opportunity to review them. In previous years, that method was bypassed during budget season with “a message of necessity” -- used to push bills through without that three-day review period. It’s legal, but some lawmakers say it’s “sneaky” including Senator Jim Tedisco. ST. LOUIS -- The temperatures are expected to rise into the 70s in the St. Louis area Thursday into Friday. The ingredients are on the table for a severe weather outbreak across the mid-Mississippi River Valley Friday.Risk of severe weather near St. Louis Friday afternoon and evening.The forecast could change. There are signs of a possible split that could take the worst storms north of St. Louis, into Iowa and Illinois. Another band may head further south, closer to the Ohio River. A 15-year-old girl has been arrested as a suspect in the shooting death of a 44-year-old Brighton man.Just after midnight Tuesday, officers were sent to the 400 block of North 6th Avenue on a welfare check for a “man who had not been heard from in several days,” according to a Brighton Police Department news release.Officers found the body of Joseph Johnson, who had been shot, inside a residence, police said.About 1 p.m. Tuesday investigators arrested the teenage suspect in Castle Rock. She was taken to the Brighton police headquarters and then booked into the Prairie Vista Youth Services Detention Center, police said, for investigation of murder and motor vehicle theft.The suspect’s identity was not released because of her age. OAKLAND — The Athletics dealt center fielder Cristian Pache to the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday in exchange for right-handed pitcher Billy Sullivan, the club announced.Pache, a gifted defensive outfielder never got going offensively a year ago, struggled at the plate this spring and manager Mark Kotsay said Sunday he would not make the final roster. Pache was out of options, hence the trade to the Phillies.Sullivan, 23, was a 28th-round draft pick of the Phillies in 2017, played collegiately at Delaware and hasn’t played above Double-A. Last season for Double-A Reading in the Eastern League, Sullivan was 5-1 with two saves and a 4.59 earned run average.
