DENVER (KDVR) -- Does the grocery store receipt look different with the same amount of food? Groceries in Denver are around the same price as other mid-sized cities in the United States. But if you think Denver's groceries are more expensive than usual, that's because they are. Strangest things you might find under your plane Compared to other major cities, Denver's groceries rank fairly low. FOX31 looked at local grocery stores in the downtown area of popular cities and looked at the Kroger price for store brand bread, milk and eggs:Denver's grocery prices were the second cheapest at $7.17 next to Colombia, South Carolina's groceries prices -- which amounted to $6.67. Police have released a sketch in hopes to find a man suspected of kidnapping and sexual battery of an adult female. The incident occurred near the 100 block of Southwest Second Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, just before 5:25 a.m., Saturday. Police describe the man as dangerous, armed and on the run. According to authorities, a male and female were sitting inside a parked vehicle when the suspect, a black male, armed with a firearm, approached them. As students in Miami-Dade County return to school, one South Florida police department is giving back to their community to honor an officer who died in the line of duty one year ago. On Thursday, the Miami-Dade Police Department held a remembrance ceremony for fallen officer Cesar “Echy” Echaverry at their headquarters, located at 9105 NW 25 St., where they gave out backpacks with school supplies to underprivileged children. Two hundred sixteen backpacks filled with folders, pens, pencils and other supplies were collected for the giveaway. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava attended the remembrance ceremony. “Our memory of that terrible event and our loss lives deeply in our hearts.” Levine Cava said. Emergency responders arrived at the scene of a crash involving a rolled-over vehicle on State Road 836 that has caused closures on the highway, Thursday afternoon. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews confirmed the call came in at 12:01 p.m. as a vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailor. Live video footage showed fire officials, along with Florida Highway Patrol deputies, on the westbound lanes of the highway near Northwest 137th Avenue where a damaged vehicle lay on its side on the shoulder. Crews also worked to soak up oil that leaked onto the road. Due to the fuel leak, the Department of Environmental Resources Management was contacted to assist in the clean-up. A commission working to come up with a new seal and motto for Massachusetts is turning to the public for help, releasing a survey officials hope will inform a final recommendation due by mid-November.The Seal and Motto Commission voted in May 2022 to call for a full redesign of the state’s seal and motto and has sought multiple extensions to finish up its work since it was first created in 2021.
