Suspected stolen business truck causes multi-vehicle crash

ST. LOUIS - A business' pickup truck hit several parked cars in south St. Louis. It's unknown if that truck was stolen.Police said a white work truck hit a green Dodge pickup, as well as a white Dodge sedan. The green pickup went from where it was parked to directly behind the white sedan, over the sidewalk, and into a stairway and rail. FRANKLIN, COUNTY, Mo. - Emergency crews were at the scene of overturned vehicle crash on I-44 Wednesday morning. Our Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX helicopter was flying over the area located near Gray Summit where one driver was taken to a nearby hospital via helicopter. ST. LOUIS - A house fire in the 8300 block of South Laclede Station Road has left one man dead. Police identified the man as Gene Uetrecht, who is 58 years old.The fire happened Monday just before 9 p.m. when St. Louis County police officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct responded to a call for a house fire. Detectives said the fire appeared to be accidental and started in the kitchen."I was heading down from Weber Road up there, heading down this way, about ready to pull into my street," said Dale Thielker, who lives in the neighborhood. "And from a distance, I could the street was just lit up with police cars." ST. LOUIS - The family of a U.S. Army veteran who has been missing in action for decades is now preparing for his funeral in Centralia, Illinois. Marva Bledsoe, a niece of Master Sergeant Merritt Leroy Wynn, said it was cooperation from North Korea following a summit with President Donald Trump that led to the return of her uncle’s remains.Bledsoe said DNA samples taken from relatives confirmed his identity. She said Wynn was killed in action during the Korean War. His remains were returned to his hometown of Centralia on Tuesday.“It closes a chapter in our family history,” Bledsoe said. “He’s been identified, and he’s being laid to rest.”His funeral will be on Saturday, April 15. Inglewood business owners expressed their concerns Tuesday about a planned Los Angeles Metro project that could displace dozens of companies. The project, called the Inglewood people mover or Inglewood Transit Connector, will add a 1.6-mile length of track that can bring travelers from Metro's K Line to the city, home to prominent attractions like SoFi Stadium.The tradeoff, however, is that 41 businesses will have to relocate to make space for new stations. More than 300 people work for those companies, according to the Daily Breeze.
