Preparing for back-to-school traffic through many Austin area construction zones AUSTIN (KXAN) — We want to help you prepare before some of the biggest school districts in the Austin area return next week, so KXAN Traffic Anchor Erica Brennes has been speaking with the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Austin to help you navigate the back to school traffic and construction zones.If you take Loop 360 and pass the Pennybacker Bridge, TxDOT continues its work on intersection improvements at Westlake Drive and at Cedar Street.It's removing the signal lights at those two intersections, so eventually, the flow of traffic will be much smoother, but not for another two years.Many drivers take Loop 360 to and from work, and a lot more will be doing so once school starts, so plan accordingly to be driving through a construction zone on your way.TxDOT said the construction zone on Loop 360 is one of them and they hope with a little planning, your drive to and from school will be a smooth one."We plan everything ahead of time, the cute outfit, the new backp...

Capital Region asylum seekers told not to talk to media CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (NEWS10) - During a news conference Tuesday, area and state officials pointed to the contractor, DocGo, paid by New York City to house and care for incoming asylum seekers placed at area motels. Lawmakers and directors of local organizations which help incoming migrants all say the process has been a mess. Unkept promises for New York City’s displaced asylees in the Capital Region NEWS10 reporter James De La Fuente caught up with Capital District Latinos, Regional Director, Micky Jimenez, as she was assisting some asylees with transportation needs.  NEWS10 was told to leave the property of a hotel that asylum seekers were living at. Rusty pipes producing odd-colored water in Festus FESTUS, Mo. - Neighbors in Edgewood and St. Mary’s, along with other parts of Festus, have been dealing with yellow, mucky water for some time. Officials say the cause is an old, outdated system that can’t support the city. Now, the city is working on a huge expansion and reimbursing residents for their water bills.Running water in areas of Festus, hasn’t been a pretty sight. The site of yellow, darkened water filling tubs and sinks has been a recurring issue over the last few years. It’s only gotten worse.“I maybe give her a bath once a week, if anything. 3 firefighters injured after truck overturns off roadway BLACK JACK, Mo. – A firetruck responding to a house fire in Florissant overturned in a rollover crash Tuesday evening.The crash occurred near the intersection of Old Halls Ferry Road and Country Club Court.The vehicle was from the Black Jack Fire Protection District.Three firefighters were injured in the crash and had to be taken to a local hospital.
