CHICAGO — Chicago Street Race is coming to the Windy City this summer, and it's all about a new chapter in motorsports in the area. The Chicago Street Race is NASCAR's latest foray into the market with a most unique twist - a street race in the city's iconic downtown area. (The Hill) -- America faces a large and growing public health problem: suicide by men. More than 38,000 men died by suicide in 2021, the highest number and rate of deaths in 20 years. Men die of suicide at four times the rate of women. As a societal issue, male suicide has been somewhat overshadowed by the very real mental health crisis afflicting American women and girls. Thirty-seven percent of women have been diagnosed with depression in their lifetimes, compared to 20 percent of men, and those rates are rising, according to Gallup survey data released Wednesday. Paradoxically, women are more likely to attempt suicide, but men are more likely to die by suicide. The main reason is firearms. A person who attempts suicide with a gun is many times more likely to die than someone who uses another method, such as pills or self-inflicted cuts. Police have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of arson at a St. Paul mosque Wednesday.Officers took the man into custody just before 8 p.m. Wednesday at East Seventh and Wall streets in St. Paul’s Lowertown area, according to a Thursday jail log. He is being held in the Ramsey County jail.No one was injured in the fire at Tawhid Islamic Center of Minnesota at Dale Street and University Avenue. Officers were called to the mosque, which was under construction as it was being remodeled, about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.State and local leaders condemned the incident at a place of worship.The Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Minnesota chapter said it was the sixth attack on a mosque in the state this year. (NEWS10) -- Since a state-wide swatting hoax locked down schools for hours March 30, many districts have gone back to the drawing board refining their safety techniques.East Greenbush Central School District Superintendent Jeff Simons says even though the active shooter calls weren’t real, it was a very real learning experience."The timing of it. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man has been charged after he was found to be illegally possessing a loaded handgun. The man, Tamir Tunnell, 23, was arrested by Albany Police Department on May 16. At 6:30 p.m. on May 16, police patrol officers stopped Tunnell in the area of Quail Street and First Street in regard to an ongoing investigation. During the stop, officers found Tunnell to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun that was concealed in his waistband. Tunnell was taken into custody after the firearm was recovered by police. He was charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. WHITEHALL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, a Whitehall man was arrested on Wednesday and is accused of possessing a stolen excavator and trailer. On Thursday, he was arrested again for additional charges. Jerrick Jones, 37, is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Deputies say an investigation found Jones was in possession of a 2015 Kubota excavator and a 2009 Cross Country flatbed trailer that were reported stolen out of Troy in October 2022.
